This thriller series has five seasons available to binge-watch on Netflix, with a current total score of 94 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes. Money Heist is a hit Spanish crime drama following a group of professional criminals.
It was originally titled La casa de papel (The House of Paper), but the series has since been dubbed by Netflix for English viewers, and with it came a brand new name. The story follows the preparation of two major heists, one on the Royal Mint of Spain and one on the Bank of Spain, both carried out by mastermind 'The Professor'.
Detailing the intense missions is one of the robbers, Tokyo, played by Úrsula Corberó. The unreliable narrator tells the story in real time, and so the series takes you on a journey through flashbacks and time jumps and reveals some characters' hidden motivations.
In its unique storytelling, the show was only ever supposed to be a two-part mini-series, but after 15 episodes, Netflix wanted in and made plenty more. And thankful that they did, many viewers can't stop watching the show.
One fan said: "I would definitely recommend it if you like your action. It's something I could watch again and again without getting bored."
In order to carry out the biggest heist in history, The Professor pulls together an unusual group of eight robbers, who all have nothing to lose. Months of meticulous plotting and planning every step and probability leads up to the moment of the crime.
The band of thieves spend 11 days locked up, surrounded by police forces, and with hostages to hand, anticipate what could either be a huge success – or a disaster. In a high-stakes operation, the show focuses on the the thrill of the job and the unpredictable outcomes they may face, while forming emotional connections with one another.
"This is an absolutely amazing series," one reviewer said. "It takes you through a emotional roller-coaster. Only complaint I have is how long the series is I wish I had more time to invest into it. I got to season three and I hope to finish the rest in the future."
Another said: "Usually I wouldn't give anything five stars, but this show surpassed my expectations in every way. Even if some parts of it were far-fetched, you can't help but enjoy it. I don't think any other show I've watched has left me on the edge of my seat quite like this one did."
After moving over to Netflix, the series hit the top spot for the most-followed series on Netflix for six consecutive weeks. Not to mention, many big-time celebrities commended the show, such as footballer Neymar and author Stephen King.
Sink your teeth into all five seasons of Money Heist, available to stream on Netflix now.
